Black Balsam Knob Elopement | A Rainy Blue Ridge Parkway Elopement
Cassidy + Seth, fellow photographers and creatives knew from the moment they got engaged that they wanted to have a Black Balsam Knob Elopement. Black Balsam Knob is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway only 2 and a half hours from Asheville and only 4 and a half hours from Atlanta, GA. They decided on Black Balsam Knob because they knew the chances of having a moody atmosphere was high and boy were they right on this August day!
The morning up until afternoon was a typical warm and sunny August day. Until the rain came in! It was a downpour. We asked Cassidy + Seth what they wanted to do. If they’d like to wait until the next day, find another location or JUST GO WITH IT. After our amazingly talented friend Makeup by Ashton finished up with Cassidy we asked them. They were 100% down to go ahead and we proceeded from Asheville and hopped on the Blue Ridge Parkway. On our way to a MOODY and RAINY Black Balsam Knob Elopement! We stopped at an overlook to take some photos with some rolling fog in the back.
Black Balsam Knob Elopement | The Trail
As we approached the trailhead for Black Balsam Knob we could tell we were in for a real treat. The rain was not slowing up at all but that didn’t stop us or our amazing couple from having an incredible elopement experience. Thankfully we knew there was a chance of rain so we brought some clear umbrellas that we bought at Target. WE also had these SUPER COOL LANTERNS that we bought off of Amazon just for this shoot! Our dear friend and mentor Thistle Wood Photo put us on to these and we have LOVED them so so much!
Cassidy + Seth shared their beautiful and tearful handwritten vows with one another at their Black Balsam Knob elopement at the top of the hill. We were all in tears even though we could barely hear them from how much rain was coming down. We truly enjoyed this rainy shoot experience and after their vows we ran down the mountain and hopped onto the road for some even MOODIER couples photos of them. They were absolutely drenched and so were we. We all went back to their AirBnB and took turns soaking up the hot shower and ordered some yummy pizza! We stayed up all night celebrating and talking about our businesses together and how far along we’ve come since the beginning. LOVE YOU GUYS SO MUCH! We look forward to so many more adventures together!
